♦ A.W a discussion on Tuesday night on lhe question of whether the Wed Burgees' Association should join the Port Chrwtchurch League, the Association decided <o relet the matter to affiliated associations. " The chairman (Mr K. J. Ecroyd) expressed Iho omnion that it would be unwise for the Association to take a definite stand and r,; n the League, as sue!) action would prob--i-iv shut the door to those supporters who desired t,o join tho' Association. The constitution of the Association did not allow the entry of politics into its programme, and ha feared t.tat if the Association joined up it would cause dissension in its ranks. Mr Adcock supported the previous speaker, ai.d Mr J. Pieuting stated that the matter (should be referred to the affiliated association." On the motion of M<• Prouting, it was decided to tefer tho question to affiliated Associations for their views conc.u-uing it. Mr James Stewart was appointed secretary u/jtil the annual meeting in July. A letter was received ivoni the Town Clerk advising that the City Council was making application for authority over buildings used as flats. The question of inspecting vehicles need for the delivery of milk was being considered by the By-laws Committee. A motion was carried recommending to the incoming City Council that instead of unemployed being used on non-productive w ®j' £ » such as grass chipping, as at present, .bey nbculd be used in productive work, such as tar-sealing from channel to channel at streets p.'ready tar-.'ealed and those to b« sealed in the futux*.
