MAGISTERIAL, THURSDAY. (Before Mr E. D. ilosley, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Elizabeth Oakley, aged 34, a second offender for drunkenness, was fined 20s and costs, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. For using obscene, language in the hearing of personß in- Ferry road, Edward Earle Johnstone (Mr P. P. J. Amodeo) was fijied £2 and costs, in default 14 days' imprisonment with hard labour'. William Albert Darling (Mr E. Bowie) on a charge of using obscene language in the hearing of persons in Beaumont street, was fined £2 and costs, in default 14 days' .imprisonment. Seven days wero allowed for payment of the fine. THEFT OF CREAM. William John Gwatkin, aged 25, and William Ford, aged 21, were jointly charged with stealing a bucket and three gallons of cream, to the value of 30s, the property of Roborl; AJlan White. Chief-Detective J. Carroll said the two accused had visited a dairy in Halswell, which was about 30 yards from a house, stolen a bucket, and dipped up three gallons of cream which was waiting to be made into butter. Both accused were convicted artd fined £3, and ordered to pay 15s each, half the value of the cream t stolen, in default of payment a month's imprisonment with hard labour. REMANDED. On a charge of stealing a motor-cycle valued at £45, the property of Ronald William Grafton, Thomas Henry Pliillipson, ,&ged 17,_ was remanded to appear on April 2nd. Bail was allowed in self £SO and one surety of £SO. . _ ON LICENSED PREMISES. William John Hampton and Samuel Peters wero both fined 20s -and costs for 1 being found on the licensed premises of the Bower Hotel after hours. On a similar charge William James Brown Parks (Dr. A. L. Haslam)' was fined 10s and costs. DANGEROUS DRIVING. William James Brown- Parks (Dr. A. L. Haslam) was, fined £4 and cost 9 for driving a motor-truck in a manner dangerous to one, V, G. B. Wilkins. Sergeant D. Hyland said Parks had been driving a motor-truck in Racecourso road, and had collided with a motor-cycle ridden by Wilkins. At the time o£ the accident the Jruck was on the wrong side of the road. Two passongpra who were in the truck, got out and dragged the motor-cycle and the rider, to th© side of the road and the truck then .drove on, Wilkins had his leg broken and received other injuries. Haslam said that Parka's passengers had told him the motor-cyclist was all right. Had he realised that the man was hurt m l you -! d c . ertalnl y have stayed to assist. The Magistrate said that one construction that could bo put on the case was that 1 arks had ,had more liquor than Was good lor him on the night in question. Parks was fined £4, and consented to take out a prohibition ordor. MOTOR-INSPECTOR CHARGED.

Neil Ewing Colville, of 182 North road, Papanui, motor-inspector to the Waiinairi County Council, was charged with negligentJy driving a motor*car in Victoria street ? n . Hobbs) the sum of £l7 5s 6d, damages as the result of a collision between defendant's car and plaintiff's motor-truck at the corner of. Bott, of 43 Morris street, Avouside, for 410 gallons of milk-supplied at one shilling a gallon. Judgment was given for the plaintiff'for £l7 Is 8d and costs. NELSON v. CALVERT. . In an action in the Magistrate's Court on March 24th, wherein A. E. Nelson, of Linwood, claimed £l6 8s 9d from G. Calvert, of Spreydon, alleged to be due , for repairs to defendant's motor-car, A. E.'Nelson was awarded £lO 10s and costs on the claim. On a counter-claim by- Calvert, judgment was given in Nelson's favour, with £2 2s costs.
