GAMBLING ON THE DOLE.
Stern comments on the use put to money received from the dole by some ,men were made at Ihorne, Yorkshire, Police Court last month, when a man who applied for an extension of time to pay a fine for gambling said his only work was signing on at the Labour Exchange. Mr Cook (chairman ot the Bench); You draw the dole,- and then go gambling. You will have no sympathy from this Court. You ought to have been sent to prison in the first instance. Men draw the dole and think they can either spend the money getting > drunk or gambling. You are not going to draw the dole for two weeks. You will go' to prison for 14 days.
