BANKRUPT FISHERMAN.
0 POOR SEASON BLAMED. Blamina: the poor fishing season and the consequent low returns for his failure, TCvun Wilford Nilsson, fisherman, of Akaroa, mot his ereditoru before the Official Assignee in Bankruptcy, Mr J H. Robertson, yesterday.
Bankrupt owed £167 19s lid to unsecured creditors, whilo his assets amounted to 10s, leaving a deficiency of £169 9s lid. There were no secured creditors.
Bankrupt's sworn statement set out that he was a _married man, living in Akaroa. Previously he had been fishing at Kaikoura, but in 1926 his If.unch was wrecked and was a total loss. When he moved to Akaroa anothfr launch was purchased by his wife on terms, and of his weekly returns was to be paid to vondor of the launch one-third in reduction of the amount owing. The monthly returns from the •ale of fish, which was sent to Christchurch, ranged from £.42 9s 6d in .Tune to £1 14s 3d in Septcmbfr. The running expenses of the launch averayod £8 10s a month. He still owed rent for the house hs had lived in at Kaikoura and in respect of this ih'bt a judgment summons had been issued.
Bankrupt promised to make an offer to his creditors if his returns improved and the meeting was adjourned. Mr C. 11. Holmes appeared for Nilsson.
