further reference to the discussion, a ortnight ago, between the secretary ot tlie Canterbury Automobile Associa'on (Mr J. 8. jjawkaa) and the clerk o the Waimairi County Council (Mr • S. Cowpor), concerning the marklnß of deviations to be taken by traffic while the Main North rond, between u,n°oHi 1 ? l)o « n dary and Northcote road, was being paved, was made at the meeting yesterday of the Waimairi Council, when it was decided to approve of the action of the clerk in disagreeing with the Automobile Association s methods of marking ueviations, and in not allowing their signs to bo used on the section of road hsing paved. G. Chapman mentioned the matter, snying that he would move that the Council approve of the action of tho clerk. "It is not right," be said, that the Canterbury Automobile Association should dictate to this Council as thev have done. Motor traffic has no right to be here at all." The chnirman, Mr C. E. Cross, said that ho had been approached by the secretary of the Automobile Association, but had informed him that the matter was in the hands of a sub-com-mittee of the Council and ho would not allow them to be interfered with.
