! * kubelik. | SECOND CONCERT TO-NIGHT. It is probably news to most concert-goers that Jan Kubelik, who will give his second concert in the Theatre '.Royal to-night, has written six concertos for violin and orchestra in recent years. He has a real gift for writing picturesquely and with real- emotional Reeling. When he played his own Concerto No. 5 at Queen's Hall, London, to an audience of 7000, the huge assemblage gave all the signs of adulation, a«nd tendered the famous man a magnificent reepption as he stood before handling with rcvererce his 125,000 Stradi varius. Indications are that to-night's concert w.JI be attended by another capacity audience. Extra» rows of reserved seats will be available at The Bristol this morning. The unreserved seats will be sold at the doors to'* night from 7 o'clock. The programme is one of the most attractive of the season, and includes: Concerto in G Minor (Max Bruch), (Mozart), Gavotte (Bach), Havanaise (Saint-Saens), Violin Concerto in D Major (Paganini), Andante (Kubelik), Gipsy Airs (Saraaate), and many popular encores. By request, Schubert's "Ave Maria'* will be played as an encore. The final concert of the season will t-ake place on Thursday night, the booking for which is now open at The Bristol. Messrs J. and N\ Talt- announce that this will be Mr Kubelik's finnl appearance in Christchurch for many years as the artist is hooked until 1935.
