ST. JAMES' THEATRE.
PAULINE FREDERICK IN "EVIDENCE." "Evidence," the principal, picture at St.. James* Theatre t-hl» week, -with no attempt at lavish production to bolster up .its appeal, draws its strength' from' being an unadorned story,, simply but forcefully told. It is. hased on the play "Divorce Evidence," by J,' Du Rocher MacPherson. . ■ The Ave leading players are Pauline Ureaerick, Conway Tearle, Lowell Sherman, William Courtenay, and Freddie Burke Frederick. Their characterisation is almost faultless, and except for the boy player, Freddie Frederick, they speak In well-rounded English. In the boy's part the producer has depended too much on coincidence and the instinctive love of a son for his mother is over-; drawn. But for that the story moves along on the screen just as naturally as it might in any British community to-day where civilisation has advanced far enough for decrees nisi to break in upon domestic happiness.
