MOTOR-CYCLIST KILLED.

PILLION RIDER INJURED.

WELLINGTON, September 20.

Marco W. Humphrey, aged about 21, of Is, Victoria street, Lower Hutt, was killed last night when the motorcycle he was riding collided head-on with a motor-car on the Hutt road about two hundred yards north of the i'etone railway crossing. His sister-in-law, Mrs Humphrey, who was on the pillion, was flung from the machine and injured. TheNaccident occurred at about 10.80 p.m. The motor-cycle*was travelling towards Lower Hutt, and the car, a light saloon, towards the city. Between the! Petone railway station and the crossing they met.in a headon collision. It is stated that, before coming to a stop, the car travelled some distance, carrying the motorcycle in frpnt of it. Mr Humphrey's skull was fractured, and he died shortly afterwards. Injuries to her back and lacerated wounds on the legs were suffered by Mrs Humphrey, who was removed to the Weliingt- Hospital. The car \.... driven by Clarence Douglas Hevtor Orr, a railway porter, of Tinakori road. With him in the car were two other men, also porters. Not one of them were injured. Both cycle and car were considerably damaged.

A BROKEN LEG.

KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR. Knocked off his bicycle by a car at the corner of Edgeware road and Madras street on Saturday afternoon, J. H. Hollis, a married man, aged 26, of 123 Francis avenue, received head injuries and abrasions. After the accident, the car, a light sedan, swerved across the road and crashed through a fence, the radiator and mudguard being damaged by the impact. Hoflia was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital in a semi-conscious condition, but later regained consciousness, and his condition is now satisfactory. SMALL BOY INJURED. Roy Searle, aged eieht. of 489 Gloucester street, received a broken left leg, a broken left arm and head injuries When the bicycle he was riding collided with a tram on Saturday afternoon. The accident occurred just past the corner of Medway street and North Parade. The tram was going towards North Beach when Searle and another •boy on a bicycle crossed the track in front of the tram. Searle's companion got across safely, but Searle's bicycle was caught. It is believed that his
