"THE PRESS" RELIEF FUND.
EVERY PENNY LESSENS DISTRESS. Another contributor yesterday enclosed a note with his cheque, asking us not to use it "to pay single men fourteen shillings a day oii reliet work." There is, t{ course, no such danger None of the money sent to us is paid out in wages. It all goes, under wise direction, to the purchase of necessities for people who are m actual distress. We have the assurance of the Mayor, who has the assurance of the relief depots, that not a penny of our fund is used in any other way tnan in carrying out our contributors' wishes.
