GARDENS ROBBED.
RESIDENTS LOSE SHRUBS AND FLOWERS. Thieves who have been given their opportunity by the power shortage are causing householders in the suburbs and even in. the City itself heavy losses by their raids on gardens under cover of darkness. A resident of Cranmer square informed a reporter yesterday that his garden had been visited by thievos twice this week, on each occasion valuable shrubs and flowers being taken "The thieves must select what 'they want in the daytime, and come back at night to remove them They take only tne best, and in doing so trample . everything els# in the vicinity underfoot. Perhaps some of the miscreants would be deterred a little if they know that extra police are patrolling the-streets during :the operation of the power economies."
