1 General regret was felt in the Anamti ind Mavheld districts when it became known "that Mrs G. Harrison had tiiod at her home in . Burwood, rhristchurch. Mrs Harrison was a highlv-rospected resident of the Annma district for about thirty years. She j took a keen interest .in matters pertaining to the welfare; of the district . and w a staunch of the Anglican Church Mrs Harrison lett Anama with her family to reside in Christchiirch last year. She leayes a grown-tip family—Misses . Mabel and liina Harrifcon and Mr B. Harrison. Her husband died about four years ago. J WAKANUI. : The annua! social and presentation of prizes was held by the Wakanui .Defence Hi lie Club, when there was a large attendance of menil*>rs. A letter was received from Mill Foston offering (o deliver a lecture on . tho history of .the. Maori race, the committee to receive 25 per .cent. of the proceeds. It was left to a subcommittee, consisting of the chairman, secretary, and Mr A. 9 Kennedy, to decide .whether the offer is to .be accepted. The headmaster's report showed '.that' tliere were 121' boys and 13G girls the primary department of the school and" 15 boys and 31 girls' attending tho secondary department/ a> total of 303.
