MARCH AND HYMN CONTEST.

, The recently formed Canterbury Provincial Bands' Association * has lost no time in getting to work, and has decided to hold a March and Hymn Contest (own 'choice) for B and 'O grado bands, on October 25th. The decision was arrived" at by a general meeting of the Association, held on Friday hrght, which was wellattended, and was presided over by Mr J. Noble. The constitution and rules wei'e adopted, and the following officers were elected: —President, Mr J. Noble; victe-president, Mr «T. M. Scott ; auditor, Mr. R. J. Estal.l. Regarding . the. March and Hymn Contest it' was decided that the Christchurch Municipal should be the organising band. Mr R. J. Estall consented to act as honorary musical judge.
