MOTOR-CAR RACING.
DANGEROUS CONDITIONS PREVAIL. (UXTCID PR <3B ASSOCIATION—B7 EtSCtBtC TBLEOEAPH—COPTBJOHT.) LONDON, July 20. Heavy showers Added to the dangers of the senior Irish Grand Prix, covering 300 miles at Phoenix Park, Dublin. Torrential downpours covered the wind-screens, making conditions tnoet difficult. and were responsible for many hair-raising skids. One mr going at a torrifit- speed skidded so severely that turned round four times. Then, when everyone breathlessly awaited disaster* the car continued on in the race.
To half-way there was a duel between the German, R. Caracoioia, driving a Alorcedes-Btinz car, and Captain H. ft. S. Birkin in a Bentley. Eventually the German won the tiopivy, doing an average speed of 85.8S wiles an hour. t The Italian, Camprie, driving an Alfa-Romtio, was second; Earl Howe, in a Mercedes, waa third, and Birkin fourth.
