PROPOSED NEW PARK.
REQUEST FROM OPAWA. . A clause in the report of the Abattoir, Markets, and Reserves Committee, which came before last night's meeting of the City Council, stated that the secretary of the Opawa and Hillsborough Burgesses' Association had written forwarding particulars of an area of land adjacent to the Opawa School which, it v : considered, should be purchased by the Council for use as a park. The Committee reported that the acquisition of the land was not regarded as desirable at present and that it had replied to the Association accordingly. Cr. E. R. McCombs expressed the opinion tliat the Council should have more information concerning the matter, and moved that the clause be sent back 'to the Committee. Cr. E. H. Andrews said the people of Qpawa_ were already in a special rating area in connexion with the present Opawa Park. Or. Fraer (chairman of the Committee) agreed to take the clause back amd in doing so said she had already agreed that a deputation should come before the Committee to place its views on the question before it.
