De Morpurgo beat Allison 7-5, 6-2, 5-7. G-4. - The United States thus won by four Snatches to One, and will play France ,for the Cup. [ln 1929 France won the Davis Cup for the third time in succession. Her reply to America's challenge was not so confident as in 1928. for Lacoste was indisposed, and the brunt of the defence fell on Cochet and Borotra on three successive days. France won by three matches to two. and a feature of the contest was. the promise held out by America's younqr doubles teaiq, J. vail Ryn and W. Allison, which was to a great extent fulfilled in this year's | play.]
