RICHMOND. The monthly meeting of the Rich- . mond Burgesses' Association was held last evening, Mr J. Stewart presiding over a fair attendance. In connexion , with the Association*® request for the provision of band concerts in. Richmond Park during the summer months, the Town Clerk wrote, stating that the matter had been brought up before the Baths and Entertainment Committee of the City Council. As it was the policy to .provide bflnd concerts only in reserves where.'; band rotundas had been . erected, 1 it was regretted that the-Asso-ciation's request could not* be with.. "■ One member thought that the onus on the members of I the district -.-was to<, organise and erect a rotunda in: Richmond Park. It was considered, "however, that Richmond Park was too small for the erection of ,'a' .rotunda,-as all available 6pace was already taken up by various sports bodies. It was decided to hold over th'e matter for the. time being. The Town Clerk wrote stating j tliafc the Works * Committee had not been able to make provision on .the current ' year's estimates, for the asphalting of footpaths 'in McLeod and Avalon streets. The City Engineer, -owever,. reported that portions of the footpaths, recently disturbed by the operations of • the M.E.D. had now been repaired .andthe paths were in good order. It was decided to write to the City. Council asking them to go ahead with the work with money from the unemployment fund, as this had been done on previous occasions. ■.....■>■■■,, Mr C. Cornelius-was elected a vicepresident of the Association. ADDINGTON. ' The monthly meeting of the Adding-, ton Burgesses was held last evening, Mr W. H. Griffiths presiding over a good attendance. The Town Clerk wrote, stating that improvements to the remaining two corners round Church square at Addington would be considered when' finance was available. It was hoped that tho much needed improvements would be not too long delayed. Bepairs to the fountain in Lincolnroad were being made, wrote the.JTown Clerk. The police had also been asked to endeavour to prevent further damage. Satisfaction was expressed at what had been done. The secretary of the .Returned 'Saldierß' Association (Mr E. F. Willcox) wrote thanking the Association for its in the Poppy Day appeal. The sale of poppies in Addington had exceeded all expectations., and had contributed greatly to the ■ success of the appeal. Great credit was also due to the ladies in the district. 1 The president, 'Mr Griffiths, stated that, over £3O had . been collected in the Addington district. It was decided to subscribe the sum of one guinea to the Cancer Research Appeal Fnnd. _ ■ w , Messrs A. T. Smith and H. G. Ell are to be invited to give members of the Association talks on .hospital.Stanagement and the Summit road respecnew members were elected. ■
