LIBERTY THEATRE.
A POWERFUL DRAMA. With the main scenes set in a lonely lighthouse, "Undertow," tho new talkie at the Liberty Theatre, works up to a dramatic intensity of unusual interest. In tho beginning two men are in love with the one girl, and sho marries the man in charge of the light.. With tho passing of tho years und the loneliness of the lighthouse she becomes hungry for life ashore, and matters betwoen tho two of them have just reached u crisis when tho husband becomes temporarily blind as tho result of an old injury. Sho and Iter husband try to keep this from tho inspector, who is tho other He finds out the roal position and, while allowing tho husband to think ho knows nothing, takes the girl in his arms and urges her to go ashore. Tempted, she complies, and they go, leaving tho blind man in the lighthouse. Later ho regains hiß sight and starts the light going. The wife, now on Bhore, suddenly realises her position and goos back to the light. As the husband and wife are making up, the inspector arrives, and. bolieving tho husbund is still blind, again attempts to make lovo to the wife. The husband attacks him and there is a fight. Mary .Nolan is the star, and with her arc John Mack Brown and Robert Ellis. Included in the shorts are two excellent news gazettes, one from Paramount and the other from Universal. An unusual item also is a film of a ballet class, which is full of interest.
