IDRIS ROAD.
COMPLAINT TO CITY COUNCIL. CHANNELS AND FOOTPATHS. A petition was. before the Christchurch City Council last night from the residents of North Idris road, complain-, ing of the state of the channels' andfootpaths. The channels were grass-covered, irregular, and, in parts, insanitary earth ditches, the petition stated. In consequence, the adjacent footpaths were uneven, broken at the edges, and most difficult to walk on in wet weather or at night. The unemployed could be doing work of a necessary, permanent nature, laying concrete channels and levelling the footpaths. Cr. E. H. Andrews said that every resident in the street, with one exception, had signed the petition. The channels were a disgrace and a menace to health. The residents could not face another summer with the channels in such a condition. The matter was referred to the Works Committee for a report.
