The Prime Minister, replying to Mr Philip Snowden's statement that the safeguarding policy was largely responsible for Australia's present position, said the previous policy of allowing Australia to be flooded with imports Was largely responsible for th© depression. ■ • ' He added that Australian prefer ences to Great Britain had increased from £20.000,000 }n 1007, to £52,000000 last year. These preferences would bo increased still further if Great Britain would enter into reciprocal agreements. . .. . .. _ He intended to place tho Australian position fully before the Imperial Conference.
