SOUTHERN CROSS FLYERS RECEPTION AT SAN FRANCISCO. SAN FBANCISCO, July 7. The residonts of San Francisco lined the roof-tops, thronged the civic centre, and crowded Mills Field on Monday, as Wing-Commander C. E. Kingaford Smith and bis companions arrived in the Southern Cross from Oakland. The flyers were hurried to the embarcadero (landing-place), where a parade was formed. With sirens screeching, the procession moved up Market street to the City Hall, where the airmen were greeted by the Mayor, Mr James Rolph. After the reception they were guests at informal receptions, and a formal banquet at night concluded tho coremonies.

I Miss Amy Johnson was accorded an enthusiastic reception at Fremantle. She later sailed by the Naldera for England. I THE MISSING AIRMEN. i ANOTHER report. RANGOON, July 7. The latest message about the missing airmen, Hook and Matthews, states tbatthe aeroplane was seen on the morning of July 3rd over a village about ten miles north of Toungup, flying low, and apparently in difficulties. ' The chances of the airmen being alive are remote if the aeroplane crashed in this locality, as it is impenetrable jungle. __________
