agreement not carried OUT. LINCOLN COLLEGE PROTEST. The aon-complianco of the Government with the terms of a verbal agreement between the Agricultural Department and the Board of Governors of the Canterbury Agricultural College, Liucoin, relating to the lease by the Department of a section of tho college farm, was the subject of strong comment at the meeting of the College Board yesterday. The subject was introduced by the chairman, the Hon. D. Buddo, M.L.C., who stated that tho question was ono of the lease of 100 acres of the college farm by the Agricultural Department for general rosearch purposes.The Department, he said, gave reasons of economy in announcing that they did pot intend to carry out the verbal agreement to lease the land. Mr 11. S. S. Kyle, M.P., who had been ono of a committee from the Board set up to approach the Prime Ministor relative to the lease, stated that he intended to pursuo the matter further. "The case iB in my electorate," he said, "and J have the right to know why the Gov. ernment has not carried out its agreement."

"We have been left absolutely standing," declared Mr C. H. Hewlett. "We have got nothing. Massey College push for their interests and get all the advantages. We have not the influonce of the whole of the North Island, which i$ behind Massey College, and if we are dofeated on this, it means we are going clean under and the college will go down." Mr Hewlett: If we take is lying down we will get kicked. Mr Kyle said that the Government's idea was to make the college nothing more or loss than a farm school. "The whole feeling is that Massey College should be tho college," he said. "They are going to do anything they can to bring this college down." Mr W. A. Banks moved that tho same committee which interviewed tho Prime Minister in the matter should do eo again, and that they be authorised to say that if satisfaction were not forthcoming, the Board would place tho facts before the Progress League, Tho motion lapsod for want of a seconder, and it was decided, on the motion of Mr N. M- Orbell. seconded by Mr Hewlett, that the Board tyke further steps, owing to the importance of the matter, to impress on the Agrioultural Department that the verbal agreement should bo adhered to.
