BANKS PENINSULA RABBIT BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting was held in the Christchuroh, on Wednesday, July 2nd, there being present: Messrs Chapman, (chairman), Nutt, Anderson, Gray, Gardiner, and Stock Incpector Henderson. Bates, etc., received in June amounted to £l7 Is 2d. The Banks Peninsula Electric Power Board wrote that it 'would guarantee the electrically-Wound switches for two years, provided only its employees had access to them, and for a similar period after that time. It was agreed to accept these conditions. Inspector Hoskin attended the meeting at the request of the Board, and was questioned regarding the threats and abuse he received on visiting a property for inspection, and when he was ordered off. The members were unanimously of opinion that they would not suffer their inspectors to be treated in this manner in their lawful acts of employment and instructed the secretary to write to this effect, and state that a recurrence of the behaviour would incur a prosecution, also drawing attention to Section 25 of the Babbit Act. Section 7 provides' for a fine' of £IOO for not commencing and continuing to destroy rabbits within the shortest possible time after being served with notice. Inspector Hoskin complained that purchasers of poison would not return the tins, and it was resolved. that he make a charge of 6d for a 21b tin. As his stock of tins was exhausted a further Bupply was put on order. Inspector Hoskin stated he did not get advised when the rabbiter was in or near hig part of the district, and the secretary was asked to instruct the rabbiter to telephone or write Inspector Hoskin when he was rabbiting near his district. The Inspector's reports for June were read and adopted. Very few rabbits had been seen on. the properties inspected, and only 9 killed. Accounts £67 8s lOd were pawed for payment*
