EVERYBODY'S THEATRE.

RICHARD BARTHELMESS* FIRST TALKIE. While other great stars of the silent screen have already made their bow as stars of the talking and singing screen, it has remained for Richard Barthelmess to appear in the new medium. His ' many' admirers, still remembering his wonderful performances in D. W. Griffith pictures, will learn with pleasure that this player has established himself as a firm favourite with talkie audiences, and his flrsj sound-and-speech picture, "Weary River," will be presented at Everybody's Theatre next week. His leading lady is Miss Betty Compson. A Barthelmess film was never like anyone else's. * "Weary River" is a picture that will appeal to everybody. It is the story of a young man of no pretensions to the fine things of the world who scaled the purple heights. It is the story of a young and modern Napoleon, the story of a heroic adventure, and no ono but Richard Barthelmess could have played it. There are some exceptional short pictures on tho programme. A potted play by Sessue Hayakawa, the Jap* anese actor, is featured, and Henry Halstead s Jazz Band is heard in some bright selections; Rex Schepp, the banjoist, and the Pox News completes the programme. Tho box plans are at The Bristol Piano Company.
