A Dusseldorf report "states that a further examination of Peter Kuerten emphasises his bestial character. He told a correspondent: "The sooner they fiuish mo the better.' The police announce that apart from his confession they have proved his guilt in six murders and four attempts. Kuerten declares that if ho had not been arrested he would have committed a new murder shortly, as he was already feeling the blood lust surging up, and he would have had to "take another life or bust." He declares that when aged only 16 he strangled a girl in a wood. Eighteen months later he strangled a nino-year-old boy. Kuerten was identified by girls he had attacked He recognised and talked to all of them.
