STORM IN VICTORIA.
SHIPPING DISORGANISED. (t'KITSD PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY BLBOTnIO 'fßLKdßApa—corvaiont.) MELBOURNE, May 14. Considerable damage Was caused throughout the southern part of the State by the fierce storm. Fishing craft in the bays along the coast were blown ashore and damaged, trees were uprooted and buildings were unroofed in Sb Kilda. Shipping at Melbourne was disorganised by the gale, and th«j(departure of both oversea and inter-State vessels was delayed. For the firsti occasion in the history of Port Phillip, the pilot station was not able to supply pilots, as the weather was too bad to permit of pilots going aboard, or disembarking. The steamer Mooltan was tossed by the swell in the bay. and eventually berthed at Prince'B Pier after considerable damage had been done both to the ship and the wharf. The residents of Inelewood experienced an anxious nieht. as the town reservoir was not able to stand the strain, and the top bank (nave way. but settled down on a firm foundation. The pre-arranged signal for immediate danger was the ringing of the local fire-bell This sounded and residents rushed from their homes. Surrounding parts were flooded to ft depth of a few inches, but actually little damage was done.
