£40,000 FOR CHARITY. LATE MR GEO. MITCHELL'S WILL A number erf Christchurch institutions will benefit to the extent of about £40,000 through the will of the late Mr George Mitchell, formerly of Christchorch, who died at Governor's Bay ofl Anzac Day. Mr Mitchell was a well-known printer's broker, and was once Mayor of Sumner. He retired from business some years ago, and Went to live at Governor's Bay. . Under the will very generous provision has been made for charitable purposes, subject to certain bequests and annuities. His estate, upon the death of the last annuitant, will be deyided into five parts. It is expected that the total amount available for distribution among the undermentioned charitable purposes will bo about £40.000. Two of such parts are to be paid to the Salvation Army to apply the income in assisting patients who have their first babies at the Salvation Army maternity home at Christchurch, the assistance to be given when they leave the institution. Two parts are to be paid to the North Canterbury Hospital Board, who are to use the income in providing extra comforts for inmates of the Jubilee Home, Woolston. The other part is to be paid to the trustees controlling the Presby* terian Girls' Orphange, Christehtireh, who are to use the income to attfsc girls leaving the hoirie to make their Way in life. The amounts to which th© three institutions will benefit are approximately:—Salvation Army £16.000; North Canterbury Hospital Board £16.000: Presbyterian Girls' Orphanae £BOOO.
