SWEET PEA SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING HELD. Although a satisfactory increase in membership was- shown by the annual report of the Canterbury Sweet Pea, Carnation, and Gladioli Society, it was considered that there was still rpom for improvement. The report was presented to the annual meeting of members lieid on Tuesday evening. Mr W- R- Toon was in the chair. The report also stated that in spite of a difficult season the annua)' show had been good. The vegetable section had been the pest display in the society's' history. The incoming committee was recommended to adjust the prize-money schedule according .to entries received for the various sections' at the last show. A credit ot £32 2s 7d was shown on the financial statement, It was decided to racomntend the new committee not to hire put any vases, as it was reported that five dozen had been lost through the hiring system. Three hew members were elected. The following officers were elected :- Patron, Dr. T. F. Telford; president, Mr W. jt. Toon; vice-presidents, Messrs E. Boulton, O. James, T. B. Whitfield, A. C.
