MAGISTERIAL. WEDNESDAY. <Before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.) HEATHCOTJS TRAFFIC CASES. Margaret Brinkman, on a charge of driving in a manner dangerous to the. public, was fined £1 and costs. For having no license she was fined 10s and costs. Charged with speeding over an intersection, Albert K. Falcon wbb fined 80s and costs, and on a similar charge Laurie Page was also fined 80s and costs. Edgar Maxwell was fined £1 and punts for refusing to give his name to a traffic inspector, 10s ana casts far having no license, and £1 and costs for driving in a manner dangerous to the public. For driving in a manner dangerous to the public, Gedrge Mots and William Timms were each fined 10s and costs. • The following were charged with cycling at night without a light, and were fined:S. Rhodes, 4s without costs, and Bowring Turner 10s and costs. Weil Blair Wylie was fined &l and costs for driving a motor-car at night without lights, and for driving without a license he was fined 10s and costs. Tor driving without a fioeose, Allan Thompson was fined iQs and costs, Robert William Stephenson was charged with riding a motor-cycls without fobtrests, with overloading it, and with cutting a corner. On the first charge he was ordered to pay costs, on the second was fined 10s and costs, and on the third charge he was fined 10s and costs. "TOP-DRESSING." George William Trott was charged with offering for sale 21 tins of parrots which did not comply with the regulations. It was stated that the defendant had "top-dressed' bis carrots, the bigger and better quality ones being on top and the poorer ones below. Ho was fined £1 and costs. DRUNKENNESS. Daniel Joseph McGuire was fined £1 and costs, in default 48 hours' imprisonment, for being found drunk in Colombo street on May 13th. REMANDED. A youth, whose name was suppressed in the meantime, was remanded until May 20th on a charge of stealing, at Sumner, £9 3s ad in cash and one cheque for £4 17s Bd. Mr A. J. Malley said that the accused was only 18 years, old. Last Boxing Night he was oqming home from Halswell on his motorcycle when he had a severe accident and was found lying unconscious on' the road next morning. He was in hospital for eight or ten days, and since then had sufferod from llts at various intervals. He had been arrested in Wellington the previous night, and on his way down had had a fit on the boat. The accused came of very respectable people, and. both his father and mother were most anxious that he should be at home. Counsel asked that the accused be ordered to report daily to the Probation Officer, who was a neighbour. When arrested the accused had 46 odd in his possession, and the cheque had not beep cashed. Senior-Sergeant O'Grady said that he thought there should be some security. The Qccused had been employed by a man at Sumner, and on Saturday ha took the money and the cheque from the till >nd rode away on his employer's bicycle. He then took a taxi and caught the boat f o r 'Wellington. In remanding the aeoused, the Magistrate 'flxed bail at £25, with one surety of £25, on condition that he reported daily to the Probation Officer.

JUDGMENT BY CONSENT, In the Supreme Court y«aterday, before Mr Justice Adamß, John Hogland, retired Storekeeper, claimed from Jjtd., Springfield, storekeepers, and others, the sum of £272 19s. Defendants counterclaimed for £ISOO damages. The counterclaim was withdrawn, and judgment 'was given by consent for the sum claimed by plaintiff. - Mr M. J. Oresson appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr F. D. Sargent for the defendant.
