MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. A meeting, of the general committee of the Canterbury A. and P. Association was held yesterday afternoon in the Association's rooms, Worcester , street. Present: Messrs L. E. C. Macfarlane (president, in the chair), K. E. Alexander, James Deans, John Deans, H. E. Fincham, E. Hay, B. W. Lochhead, W. P. Parkinson, H. E. Peryman, James Stevenson, J. Brooks, J. O. Chamberlain, I*. Coop, G. Fulton, G. Hartnell, G. H. Grigg, C. G. Jarman, B. T. McMillan, W. H. Nicholson, H. Oliver, It. Peach, J. Parlane, J. Raid, G. O. Rntuerf ord, T. A. Stephens, Thomas Stevenson, L. W. Storry, E. S. Taylor, J. D. Wyllie, W. J. Jenkins, and J. U. McGillivray. Late Mx Parry. The chairman referred to the death of Mr fcupert Parry, a well-known South Canterbury sheep breeder who, ne said, had been a valued exhibitor at the Christchurch Show for many years. They regretted his death, which was a decided loss to the farming community of Canterbury. Mr Macfarlane moved that a motion of sympathy be passed by the Association to the family of tho late Mr £arry. The motion was carried by silent vote, all standing. Correspondence, The Royal Agricultural Society wrote intimating that Messrs J. 0. Coop, J. D. Hall, A. S. Holms, and D. J. Bosb retire from the Council this year as representatives for tho South Island, but are eligible for re-election.' ■ it was decided to nominate tho same representatives, again. The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board wrote forwarding a statement of | realisations of porkers and baconers exhibited at the November Show, ! slaughtered and sold in London. The I prices realised for the pork were 12d to 22Jd per pound, and for baconers I IOJd per pound. ! The New Zealand Railways forwarded information in regard to the projected : tour of New Zealand farmers to Ausi tralia. The Royal Agricultural Society forwarded the programme for the annual conference which is to be held in Wellington on June 26th, and • the following day. In reply to Mr Alexander, the secretary said he had received no word concerning the visit of Hawke's Bay farmers to Canterbury next month. The Winter Show. , It was decided to make arrangements for district bays at the Winter Show. The question of having a larger representation of fat stock at the Winter Show Was.discussed, and it was decided to endeavour to secure typical representatives of purebred .stock. General Business. The president suggested that tho whole of the general committee should make an inspection of the show grounds. He did this, he said, not because of any fault on the part of the grounds committee —which was an excellent committee—but simply to give members of the general committee a greater interest, and place them in touch with, all that was going on in connexion with I the grounds. i It was decided to adopt the suggestion, and Mr R. M. D. Morten was added to the grounds committee. Mr Morton was appointed to represent the Association at a trial to be held at Lincoln College to, test the power required to. operate various farm implements. The machine to be used at the trial has not yet arrived from England and the date of the trial has not.yet been fixed. Accounts amounting to £637 3s 7d were passed for payment.
