ANZAC DAY.

OBSERVANCE ON FRIDAY. SERVICES AND PARADES. Anzao ; Day observance on. Friday ' will not .differ in tho essential details from that of previous ■ years, although an additional feature this -year .will be a Toe . H service, to. be held • in the Cathedral in the evening. The citizens' united service, will, as. usual, be held in the King Edward Barracks, under the aunpices of, the Christ*; church Eeturned Soldiers' Association. The Mayor (Mr. J. K. Archer) will preside, and the principal. address will be delivered by the Hon. A. J. Btall- . worthy, Minister for Health. Another speaker will be the Eev. L. B. Neale, chaplain to the Forces. . Eeturned soldiers, veterans of earlier wars, the Boyal Volunteer Boserve, Territorials, and Cadets will take part in the parade through , the City, and the various City bands will aIBO be a feature. , . The probable order of will be:— Gun carriage, and firing party, Christchurch Municipal Band, wreath bearers, veterans of other wars, Salvation. Army massed bands, returned soldiers, Caledonian Pipe Band, returned soldiers, Christchurch Highland Pipe B& ncl » Boyal Naval Volunteer Beserve, Territorials, and Cadets. Also taking part will be Derry's and the Segmental and Cadet Bands. , .. Other Services. Several other services will also be hold during the day. A united service, to which returned soldiers are invited, will be held in the Papanui Town Hall, and a special service will be held in the Roman Catholic Cathedral daring the. morning. • The military authorities are arranging for a short service to be held in Cranmer square, for the Territorials and Cadets taking part in the procession. This service will be held simultaneously with the one in the Barracks, and when tho procession reaches the Barracks, the Territorials and Cadets will march back to Cranmer square. A special Anzae Day service of commemoration will be fteld under thq auspices of the Ministers' Association at 7.30 p.m. in St. Paul's Church; The preacher will be the Rev. A. N. Scotter (President of the Methodist Conference), and the service will be conducted b.y the Rev. W. Bower Black. A collection will be taken in aid of the R.S.A. Unemployment Fund. At Sumner citizens are invited to take .part in a parade to the Town Hall, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wreaths will be "left at the War Memorial en route. A similar parade and service will be held at the Stadium, Esplanade, New Brighton, at 10.30 a.m.

R.S.A. AND TOC H SERVICE.

Oti the evening of Anzao Day, in the Anglican Cathedral, the Returned Soldiers' Association and Toe H will hold a combined 1 , service at which the Lamp provided by Miss Kathleen Cooke in memory of her cousin, Wilfred Crichton, will be dedicated by Dean Julius. The service is to begin at 7.80 o'clock, and the order of it is as follows: Procession of returned men and Too H, bearing Too H lamp to the Sean, who will place it on the altar. Organ voluntaiV by Dr. Bradshaw. "Flowers o' the Forest." Hvnrn: "God of our Fathers" (KipImg); Prayers. Psalm XLVI.: "God is our Hope and Strength." Lesson: The Building of the House Again (Ezra, 111.. 10 to end). Hymn: "Jerusalem" (Blake). Address: Professor Jameß Shelley. Hymn: "O Valiant Hearts." Offertory (all offerings will go to the Poppy Day fund, for the relief of distressed soldiers and their dependents). Anthem: The Cathedral choir, "Happy and Blest are they that have Endured" (Mendelssohn). « Toc'H prayers. Dedication of Too H Lamp, and charge to the Guard of the Lamp. The Ceremony of Light, as observed throughout the whole brotherhood ot Too H. Hymn: The Too H Hymn of Light (Londonderry air).
