YESTERDAY'S TRANSACTIONS.

Markets were firm on call yesterday, and the recorded turnover was not large. Transactions exclusive of vestibule business included:—

500 Comm. Bank of Aust. 100 National Insurance. 100 Goldsbrough, Mort. 100 United Building Society (cum div.). 100 British Tobacco (ex div.). 100 Dunlop Perdriau Eubber (ex div.). 100 Mt. Lyell Mining andT Railway Co.

Commercial Bank of Australia shares had dealings at 22s and 21s lid, market closing 21s lOd buyers, 22s sellers. Buyers of English, Scottish, and Australian Bank shares raised their bids to £6 12s 6d, sellers at £7. National Bank of Australasia fully paid appeared easier with sellers at £l4 18s, buyers at £l4 16s. National Insurance shares were firm with business at 14s 3d, further buyers at that figure, no sellers. Goldsbrough Morts were fractionally firmer at 32s 3d, closing quotations Id on either side. Buyers of Dalgety and Company shares raised their bids to £ll 3s 6d, sellers at £ll 7s 6d. N.Z. Guarantee Corporation shares ex dividend of 4d per share were available at Bs, buyers at 7s 9d. United Building Society shares cum dividend remained unaltered at 14s 9d, and more were wanted at that price, sellers at 14s lid. Carlton Breweries receded to 38s 3d sellers, 37s 7d buyers. British Tobaccos ex dividend realised 41s 6d, market closing 41s 4d buyers, 42s sellers. Beath and Company shares ex dividend of is per share were quoted 27s 6d buyers, 28s 7d sellers. Dunlop Perdriau Rubber shares were released at 17s 9d, market closing 17s Gd buyers, 17s lOd sellers. Mt. Lyells hardened to 355, buyers staying in at that price, sellers at 35j; Id.
