WANGANUI, March 31. The wool selling. season closed here to-day, when about 8000 bales were submitted. There was a good attendance of buyers and bidding was keen up to a point and well spread. Among the various sections of buyers Bradford was prominent and probably secured the. majority of the fleece wools offered. Prices showed a decline on the last sale, fleece wool being from a halfpenny to a penny lower. Medium, seedy, and shabby wools showed the largest decline. Coarse, free wools were possibly not more than $d lower. Pieces and bellies declined by about Jd to Jd and lambs up to Id. Th official range of prices is as follows: v

At a gathering of fruit retailers today, the subject of conditions under which the marketing of fruit and vegetables takes place was discussed at some length. Several of those present expressed the view that the retailers' representatives who recently interviewed the Hon. G W. Forbes on the question had no mandate to criticise the markets inspector of the Department of Agriculture. The'general opinion was that the inspector did his duty as efficiently as possible and was not responsible for any unsatisfactory features of the present state of affairs.
