Auckland—Threatening weather earlier in the day was followed in the afternoon by bright sunshine, and by evening there was scarcely a cloud in the sky. The barometer rose sharply from 30.00 in the early morning to 30.20 in the evening.
Wellington—Wellington had a perfect autumn day yesterday, there being no clouds and only a light southerly, but the sky became overcast at nightfall. Dunedin—Unsettled weather was experienced yestenfay. The sky was overcast in the mornin/» and afternoon, but there were occasional brief periods of sunshine. The wind was fresh from the south-west and the temperature dropped considerably, the maximum being 59 degrees. Conditions were unsettled at sunset. The barometer rose quickly during the day. Forecast. An intense anti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea and is advancing on to New Zealand, Present Indications are for moderate to strong south-west or southerly winds, decreas-
ing gradually; a rough swell south of Castlepoint, but othorwiso moderate and decreasing seas; moderate southerly winds and moderate seas in the eastern Tasman, f>ut -winds and seas gradually decreasing; the weather mainly fine, with cold night temperatures, but milder to-morrow; somo showers still probable, however, at scattered places on tho east coast south of Bast Cape and about Foveaux Strait. Prospects ara favourable for soveral days' fine weather.
