HOTEL DESTROYED.
OUTBREAK AT HAVELOCK. (MESS ASSOCIATION TE£.£<*&AH ) BLENHEIM, February U. The Masonic Hotel at Havelock, which was destroyed by fire 011 Saturday, was a wooden building of eighteen rooms owned by tlio Marlborough Brewery Company. It was insured for £ISOO in the Queensland Office, and there was also a policy of £3OO on tho furniture in the Phoenix Office. The licensee, Mr T. M. Sandiford, had insurances for £273 in tho Commercial Union Office and £l7O in the Norwich Union Office on the stock-in-trade and other contents. The entire contents, including boarders' effects, books, etc., were destroyed. Opposite the hotel the premises of E. Howard and Smith, a general store,' were badly damaged by fire, smoke, and water. This building was owned by Brownlee and Co., of Wellington, and was insured for £IOOO in the Commercial Union Office. Smith was covered in tho same office for £2125 on the stock.
The premises of S. C. Dilrew, baker, W. H. Orsman, store, sustained minor damage. The origin of tho fire is unknown.
