TRUCK FALLS OVER CLIFF.
DRIVER'S NARROW ESCAPE.
A truck driven by W. B. Norris, a carrier, was. smashed to pieces yesterday afternoon when it fell over the rubbisb-tip near Officers' Point, Lyttelton. „ Norris had backed - the truck to the edge of the dump, and was discharging his load when the brakes failed to hold. The truck ran backwards and fell 100 feet on to the rocks below. The driver scrambled clear.
