PICNIC.
GARSIDE, PENFOLD AND CO. The firm of Garside, Penfold and Co., Tiiam street, held a picnic at Waikuku Beach on Saturday. About 60 journeyed out in motorcars. The weather was perfect and in keeping with the occasion, and a most enjoyable day was spent. A high tribute was paid to the generosity of the principal of the firm, Mr 'A. B. S'orsyth, who made every provision for tho enjoyment of all. Ice cream, drinks, fruit, and sweets were provided, in addition to catering, and every child received a present. A bun eating competition created a good deal of amusement. ■ A good sports programme was carried out with the following results:— Girls' Handicap Race, under 12, 80yds— E. Tremberth.
