WAR ON RELIGION.
SOVIET OFFICIAL'S DENIAL. (CWIT«D I>MSB ASSOCIATION—BT IXECTRIO WLXOBAFB—COPTEICHT.) MOSCOW. February 10. A high official of the Soviet Government has issued a statement through the Tass Agency repudiating the "incredible tales" of religious martyrdom. "Remembering the Church's oppressive Vole under the Czar, the Soviet does not conceal its dislike for religion, but we fight religion by education and propaganda, not the methods of the mediaeval inquisition." he declared. "Tens of thousands of churches or all denominations are functioning m the Union of Soviet Republics. Priests refraining" from counter-revolutionary activities are allowed to conduct sei--vices unmolested."
