PURCHASE OF SITE COMPLETED. COMPETITION FOR PLANS. The Canterbury Manufacture™' As sociation was able to .innmucp yesterday that tho negotiation* for tho pur chase of tho site for t>i.» new Exhibition Hall had been complet*>d. Owing to the number of owners con corned these negotiations have taken some time. Yesterday they were coin pleted on terms that are reported to be favourable to the Association. The financial arrangements by the. Association in respect of the pun:-hane of the site have been made. The steps for the formation of a company in connexion with the hall and the site are in hand. The site consists approximately of two acres fronting on Moorhousc avenue, opposite, the railway station, with access from streets in the rear of the site. With regard to the plans and specif! cations for the hall, an opportunity has been given to Christ.c.hurch members of tho Institute of Architects to take part in a competition for the design of the building. Mr G. A. .7. Hart, president of the Canterbury branch of the Insti tute of Architects, will be the assessor in conjunction with three members of tho executive of the Manufacturers* Association. The members of the executive of the Association intend making every possible endeavour to have the building sufficiently advanced to permit it being used for this year's Winter Show and Industrial Exhibition.
