BROADSIDING.
MONICA PARK SPEEDWAY. Of the thousand* who made up the record irowd at the Speedway laßt week, not one went away dissatisfied. The racing was excellent, being marked by close finishes, fast times, and thrilling broadstding. Engine trouble was practically unknown and the crowd was kept excited all the time. The great race of the evening wm the special match race between Charlie Perabo and "Skid" Perkins, the two Australian stars engaged at the Speedway. Perkins just won, and this week Perabo wil] make a determined effort to reverae the order The marked improvement of the local boys ie making foi bstter racing. Nowhere could a better meeting hare been held than last week, and prospects are bright for a good one this Saturday. . Jack Carter has to defend his gold sash this week. Fred Sharman is the challenger, and judging by his riding last Saturday he will make the holder go "flat out" to keep the trophy. Several improvements have been made in the programme for this special New Year carnival, and a record crowd is expected.
