SEARCH PARTY OUT.
MAN MISSING ON STEWART ISLAND. [THE PRESS Special Service.] DUNEDIN, December 30. News received from Stewart Island states that the absence of Mr Adam Adamson, known as the "ambergris king," is causing concern to liis many friends. Mr Adamsou. who has a camp at Doughboy Bay, is a returned soldier, and lives practically a hermit's existence. His main occupation is prospecting and searching for ambergris, an occupation he has followed for many years with very successful results. He is believed to have left Doughboy Bav for Mason's Bay in a dinghy on Sunday, December 22nd, and nothing has been heard of him since that date.
A search partv has been organised to work the rugged coast of the island between Doughboy Bay and Mason's Bay, and until it returns to Half Moon Bay the cause of Mr Adamson's absence can only be a matter of conjecture. He is known to be an expert hushman as well as an experienced man in a boat.
