j Since Joseph Schildkraut s first appearance in talking pictures, which he made in "Show Boat," he has been much in demand by producers, and one of his most films. "The Mississippi Gambler," an alltalking picture, will be screened at Liberty Theatre uext week. In support of the star are Alec. B. Francis, Otis Harlan, and Joan Bennett. The story itself is a romance of the charming south, and of how a professional gambler, who plied his trade on the river boats, played his greatest and las. game of poker with a quick and clever Sprl* It is a completely new type of ' talkie, a good example of the better class of fiction being bought by the producers for ' talkie plots. It is very well acted, and the picturesque and quaint fashions and manners or the time are faithfully adhered to. Alec. B. Francis, formerly an English barrister, has an important part, and his delightful voice is pleasing to listen to.
