CRYSTAL PALACE. "The Greene Mnrder Case'* is the holiday offering at the Crystal Palace Theatre this week. It is an all-talking picture, adapted from the famous mystery etory by S. S; Van Dine, and it is now well known that Van Dine's stories make excellent pictures. Among the supporting subjects are the News of the World, "Faro Nell," the Italian tenor, Tito Schipa, singing operatic and concert songs, and "Chelsea Nights." Altogether, a typical Christmas programme. The box plans will be at the Crystal Palace Theatre. "CHARMING SINNERS." The Midnight Matinee which is being held at Crystal Palace Theatre on New Year'e Kve at 11 o'clock is bound to be a great success. will attract the regular patrons ot Crystal Palace, and the many visitors to the city will doubtleaa be delighted with the innovation. During the performance balloons, streamers, and other festive noveltiee will be released, and "Auld Lang Syne" will be sung at midnight. The picture to be presented is "Charming Sinners," a splendid all-talking production from a story by that excellent British writer, Somerset Maugham. In the four leading roles are Ruth Chatterton, CLive Brook, William Powell, and Mary Nolan, who give faultless performances. Their acting in this delicate, witty, sophisticated domestic drama is subtle in the extreme, and their well modulated voices are charming to listen to.
