* \ public performance of Handel's immortal" oratoria ' The Messiah'' yril be given by the Roval Christchurch Musical Society on Wednesday next, l&th inst., by a full chorus and orchestra. The soloists engaged are:—boprano. Miss Gladys Brooks: contralto, Hiss C. Freeman Rrown a member of the Society; tenor, ilr Arnold Ferrv, of Hokitika: bass. Mr A. 3 Woodward, lay clerk, Christchurch Cathedral. Mr W H. Dixon, conductor, has given „eat attention to the preparation of the oratorio. and as hte performance is just hefore the Christmas season, the public will no doubt attend the concert in large numbers, the oratorio appealing to everyone at this season.
