SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. Miss Dorothy Mac Lean (Girls' High School) left on Saturday for Wanganui. Miss H. Wigley (Orbell street) is visiting Christchurch. Mrs W. Priest, Bank street, is the guest of hei daughter, Mrs George Shirtcliffe, Wellington. , Mi and Mrs H Macfarlane, who have been staying with Mrs Westma<*ott Nile street, have returned home. Mrs W. H. Orbell, who has been staying with Mrs Ziesler, Elizabeth street, has returned to Christchurch. Miss Constance Flamank, who has been engaged to sing the contralto solos in "The Messiah," left for Lower Hutt on Saturday. . Passengers to "The Hermitage, Mount Cook, on Saturday, included: Mr and Mrs Jackson (Wellington), Mr and Mrs McClymont (Christchurch), Mrs Hook (Christchurch), and Miss Hook (Christchurch). WEDDINGS. GRIFFITHS—PENDER. The wedding of Mary Kathleen, younger daughter of Mr A. P. Pender and Mrs Pender, of Rugby street, Wellington, and niece of the Misses Pender, Redcliffs, Christchurch, and John Goodwin, elder son of Mr and Mrs J. D. Griffiths, Kilbirnie, was solemnised recently at St. Joseph's Church, Buckle street. The Rev. Dr. A. J. Mcßae officiated, and was assisted by the Rev. Father Connolly. The church was beautifully decorated with lilies and tulips. The bride, accompanied. by her uncle, Mr F. E. McParland, wore an ivory-tinted frock, with a chenille bodice and frilled georgette skirt and long sleeves. Her embroidered veil was arranged with a coronet of orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of tulips, roses, sweet peas, :ind fern. The bridesmaids —Miss Mollie Molnihan and Miss Mavis O'Connor —wore draped frocks of blue and daffodil georgette respectively, with picture hats to match, and each carried a bouquet to tone. The little flower girls—Margaret McDonald and Patty Sewell—wore frilled net froks over pink tissue, with net caps matching, and each caried a posy. Mr B. Griffiths was best man and Mr A. J. Tarleton was groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Adelphi Cnbaret. Mr and Mrs Griffiths will make their home in Invercargill.
