ORARI.
The Orari branch of the Women's Institute held its monthly meeting in the Anglican Sunday Schoolroom on Thursday afternoon, when the president (Mrs G. A. M. Macdonald> presided over a large attendance. Pour new members, Headameß W. A. Sherratt (Geraldine), W. J. Couling (Geraldine), W. K. Pearce (Winchester), and Afiss K. Blissett (Orari \ were elected. The wool rug, worked by members of the branch, was won by Miss K. Killoh, while a competition for a cake, given by Mr Shepherd. Temuka, was won by Mr E. Warne, Orari. The president reported that the Arts and Crafts Exhibition had been an outstanding success, and that the profits had been divided between the two institutions, £l,l 17s -d being the amount of Orari's share. A special feature of the afternoon's meeting was a display of home-made Christmas gifts brought by members. Mesdames H. Killoh and C. Unwin were the winners of a musical parcel competition. The president reported that the W.E.A. Summer School would be held in Geraldine during the holidays, and urged members to attend the lectures whenever possible.
