A SINGLE CONFEDERATION.
NEW VIEW OF EMPIRE. MR NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN'S SPEECH. <V*tTtD PEIS* »SBOrHTIOH-~*T eL£CT»IC ttlxohph—coptbioht.) LONDON. November 24. Following up the remarks of Mr Stanley Baldwin, in an address to a meeting of Conservatives, Mr Neville Chamberlain, at a meeting of the Junior Imperial League in Loudon, said: "We have got to take a new view of the Empire. The countries of the Empire, whether Dominions, Dependencies or Colonies, all speak our language and acknowledge our King, but hitherto they have never begun to think of the Empire an one single confederation in which the interests of each are the interests of all." He concluded by asking was it not evident that if they were united by one policy they had within the Empire the men, resources and spaces necessary to supply the needs of all?
The '"Observer" says that Mr Baldwin does not embrace the whole theory of free trade within the Empire, but pledges the Party to work for freer trade.
