Stratford) was granted three days' leave of absence on account of illness. The Cinematograph Films Amendment Bill (tte Hon. Mr de Ia Pertelle) was introduced snd read a first time. The following local Bills were read a second fime:—Sumner Borough Land Vesting Bill (Mr McCombs) and the Gisborne Harbour Board Amendment Bit! (Mr Lystsar . There was a lengthy debate on the second readiag of the Pet one and Lower Hntt Gas Lighting Amendment Bill (the Hon. Mr Wilford). The Motion was carried, ar.d the House west into Commute® on the three Bills- The measures sponsored by Mr McCombs aad Mr Lysnar again receired -o opposition. Mr Fletcher objected to the Petone sad Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Bill on ■the ground that it proposed to hand over to a private company a community create ! interest. He disagreed with the principle of permitting a company to take over the supply of gas. which, he declared, should be operated by a public body.
