INSANE MOTHER'S ACT.

KILLED HER TWIN CHILDREN. [THE PRESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, September *26. '•That the twin boys, William Arran C'ubis and Timothy Brian Cubis, died at King Edward street on August 6th, and that the cause of their death was that they were strangled by their mother, who was insane at the tune." was the verdict returned by the Coroner (Mr F. K. Hunt) when the inquest was concluded to-day. According to William Alfred C'ubis, he had married Annie Eliza'oeth Foley, of Albany, in June. 1920. She was now 40 years of age. There were three children, the eldest being eight and the deceased twins nearly four at the time of their death. About twelve months ago his wife's health had broken down, and acting on theudvice of Dr Richards she had entered the Wolfe Home as a voluntary patient Hi February. She had returned home apparently restored to health on June 30th. There were days when she had appeared indisposed, but there was nothing to suggest that her mental condition was such that she would injure the children On the morning of August 6th when witness left for work his wife had been apparently in normal health. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said Mrs Cubis had been charged with murder and remanded at the Magistrate's Court on the same day. "She is now at the Mental Hospital, and is not in a fit state to appear at the inquest," concluded the Detective-Sergeant.
