CANTERBURY CENTRE. 4he annual meeting of the Canterbury Head Centre of the Royal Life-fcaving Society was held las,t evening, Dr. Thacker presiding. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balanee-eheet, Dr. Thacker said he ■ wished to congratulate the Centre on its year's work. The success of the Christchurch branch was no doubt due to the fact that there wal a tepid bath in the pity which was a great help in teaching the young to swim. The LifeSsving Society was one that said little and did mjich, and the local Qentra was one of ths wost energetic in Australia and New Zealand. During the evening the trophies for the following competitions were presented to tha winners ;v—Canterbury rose bowl competition for primary school girls, St. Michael's; Petersen Cup competition for secondary schools, Cathedral QraSinaar School: Wigram Gup competition (or #lubs, Training College A.S.C. Souter; delegate to Central Slxeeiitivß, London, Mr W. A. Hornibrook; delegate to N.Z. Council, Mr H S. Feast; delegate to Canterbury Centre, N.K.A.S.A., Mr B. J. Fife; delegate to Canterbury Surf and Life-Saving Association, Mr P. G. Bamferdj district representative, Temuka. Miss 8, ti. Grigg; hoii. ehief instructor, Mr J. Breward.
