The "Financial Times" Bays that the deficit of the Hatry group is unlikely to exceed £23>000,000. It has not involved the investing public to any large extent, but those likelier to fall are those with large resources, who therefore are best-able to bear it. The Governor of the Bank of England presided at a meeting of bankers, after which a statement was issued, indicating the co-operation of the committee with the Stock Exchange. - It is understood that the banks will extend leniency to clients involved in the crash as small investors. —Australian Press Association.
LONDON EXCHANGE MORE CONFIDENT. LONDON, September 24. A more confident feeling is apparent on the Stonk Exchange. Business is small, but investors are taking the opportunity to buy the better class industrials at the low level to which they have fallen since the Hatry Group collapse. Dullness prevails in s;ilt-edgeds. It is now reported that, in addition to the Waflefield Corporation, Gloucester and Swindon are making enquiries regarding thoir recent issues, which wore made through Corporation and General Securities.— Australian Press Association.

Sir Gilbert Garnsey, on the application of the Official Receiver, has been appointed special manager of Austin Friars Trust, the Oak Investment Cor poration, and also Corporation :ind General Securities, Ltd. The London "Gazette" contains formal notices for winding an these three companies and also the Dundee Trust, of which Sir Gilbert Garnsey is alreadv special manager.
